Preparing for Death

We aim to eliminate a culture of death denial by encouraging people to talk openly about death in service to their own eventual death, the deaths of people around them, the ancestors who died before them and for the descendants who follow.

Because how you die matters.

What is a Death Doula?

A death doula is a neutral presence and helps a person clarify what they want and need in their dying process and how they want to say good-bye to their loved ones and their life.

This is deep and sacred work.

    20-30 minute call = FREE

    Discovery Call:

Engaging with us begins with a conversation.

This 20–30 minute call offers a calm, confidential space to share your situation, ask questions, and explore whether our support feels aligned.

    During this call, we will:

    • Learn about your current circumstances and immediate concerns

    • Offer practical insight and clarity around possible next steps

    • Discuss the types of support that may be helpful

    • Answer questions about how we work and what to expect

There is no pressure or obligation — simply an opportunity to begin with intention

  • IN-PERSON  |  VIRTUAL
Sessions are billed at $150 per hour.

    1 Hour Support Session:

Sometimes what is needed is simply a dedicated hour of thoughtful conversation.

We offer individual one-hour sessions for those who would benefit from guidance, clarity, or professional perspective without committing to a larger package of support.

This option is especially helpful when you are in the immediate intensity of a loved one actively dying and need spot guidance — help thinking through decisions, bedside dynamics, or what may be unfolding.

Whether you are just beginning your planning or navigating a pressing moment, this session provides focused, grounded support.

  • IN-PERSON  |  VIRTUAL
    10 Hour Support Package = $1,250

    10 Hour Support Package:

For those seeking foundational doula support, we offer a flexible 10-hour package at a reduced rate of $125 per hour (a savings from our standard $150 hourly rate) that may be used for any of our services.

This package allows care to unfold according to your needs rather than being confined to a single service.

The total package fee of $1,250 is divided into two payments:

    • 50% ($625) due at the start of our engagement

    • 50% ($625) due upon completion of the 10 hours

Additional hours may be added as needed and billed at $125 per hour.

Creating a Conscious Death Plan (2 to 10 hours).
We recommend beginning with 2 hours.

    Creating a Conscious Death Plan:

Death Doula Cincinnati has created a comprehensive Conscious Death Plan, which we share openly as a gift to our community. See Death Plan here.

For those who desire guided support, we offer a personalized planning process using this document as our foundation.

    Together, we will:

    • Engage in a focused and meaningful intake conversation to understand your circumstances, values, and emotional landscape

    • Clarify your wishes and preferences for before, during, and after death

    • Explore practical considerations, potential scenarios, and areas that may require additional preparation

While the document itself is freely shared this service provides the depth, conversation, and professional guidance that bring the plan fully to life.

We recommend beginning with a two-hour session. Additional time may be scheduled as needed, depending on the complexity of your situation and the level of collaboration desired.

Book a complimentary call to discuss the best way to move forward.

  • IN-PERSON  |  VIRTUAL
The Guided Passage Experience (15-40 hours).
We recommend beginning with 15 hours.

    The Guided Passage Experience:

The Guided Passage Experience offers comprehensive, personalized support before, during, and after death, blending intentional planning, bedside presence, and legacy work with practical and emotional guidance. Rooted in preparation rather than control, this engagement empowers families to care for their own dying person with confidence while knowing we are available when needed.

    • Engaged presence and thoughtful guidance before, during, and after death

    • Legacy support, ceremony planning, and hands-on assistance for families

    • Creation of a carefully curated space around the dying process — not to control what unfolds, but to ensure that what can be prepared is prepared

    • Intentional planning, clear communication, and steady presence that reflect the client’s wishes, values, and emotional needs

    • Empowerment for families to care for their own dying person with confidence and tenderness

    • Guidance, education, and reassurance so loved ones feel capable of tending to the bedside themselves

    • Presence when needed and the willingness to step back when families are ready
